Saturday, August 14, 2010 Ho Chi Minh Day 3
Posted by Philothea` @ Saturday, August 14, 2010 | Time for a quick update! I'm still on a travelton - part #3 day 3. It's my 1st time visiting Vietnam. The past 2 trips have been great and I'm lovin this trip too. I know it has been sinful and crazy to go so many places on such a tight budget but I don't regret any of it! Each trip is an amazing experience of its own, with different company and joy on different levels :)
I'm totally soaked in happiness now. I just went to catch Step Up 3 with my parents at Diamond Plaza, Ho Chi Minh. The cinema only showed 3 movies tonight. Haha. How do they survive this way? Too bad they are not showing 3D movies. Anyway I honestly don't remember the last time we watched a movie together or did we even ever stepped into a cinema together? But at that moment, I can't wish for anything else. I can now die in peace. I'm lazy to explain why but I'm so thankful for what God has done and I wished my brothers were here too.
Right after the movie; I made them pose with the poster. Haha.
Silly me forget to bring my camera charger! faints. Hope my batteries last longer somehow!I should go to bed now. Need to be up by 6am tmr to go on Mekong delta tour.

I'm looking forward to my trips ahead! :) I know I ought to get down to booking the accommodations but I've been procrastinating. Hopefully there's time for me to do so this weekend. These days is just work, work, work to compensate for my holiday expenditures.
Saturday, June 12, 2010 Kushingin
Posted by Philothea` @ Saturday, June 12, 2010 |
I'm feeling a little depressed from obesity right now after eating so much goodies these days. This evening, I finally fulfilled my desire to dine at Kushingin on a spontaneous meeting with roy after work :) It's strange how I walk pass this japanese restaurant at cuppage plaza level 1 every weekend for half a decade but never once venture into this place. It's kinda pricey but definitely oishi!~

I didn't manage to take any decent shots of the other food cos it goes right into our tummy. Hurhur.

Posted by Philothea` @ Friday, June 11, 2010 | I've this sudden urge to blog, block out my grief (gone are my carefree days) before I shower and hit the bed. Honestly, I think it's an aging issue. It's only the 2nd day of work at the office but I'm already exhausted. So strange. Whatever happened to the youthfulness?!
My tired feet. And yes, I've given in to the popular demand of Hipstamatic and bought this application on my iphone too.Happy tots of yesterday's dinner took place over Creatives core meeting at hatched :) where we tried the array of eggs and tasted sarsi, milo, caramel cheesecake favored ice-cream. Thanks to fengnian's recommendation! This place sells alcohol too. Hehe. Lovers of all day breakfast and eggs would definitely check out this place. Haha. I'm sounding like I'm doing an advertorial for them. (They should be glad!) Sheesh.
Anyway, here are some photos of the food; badly taken but that place was too dark for my limited iphone camera. (time for a new camera! 550D!) Haha. Oh, I saw a lovely tree with interesting looking red fruit on my way to Evans Lodge. Can someone please enlighten me - what tree is that?

Posted by Philothea` @ Tuesday, June 08, 2010 | Oh tuesday, drizzling, breezy and lovely. Even the birds are delightfully feeding on worms surfaced from the muddy ground.
Just returned home from a catch up session over lunch with emmeline and her friend, pengfei. So here's a quick update before I get down to work and more work. I recall having good meals at various places over the past week with all the lovely people especially at a new place recommended by lays where we met for shpding yesterday evening. Haha. It's one of those cafe-design studio-print shop and it's called Kichn.
It's a small outdoor cafe and thank God for the drizzle so the weather was perfect for us! :)I've a lot of random things to fulfill right now like hiring a tutor for my lil brother, planning for the overseas trips, packing my room and oops, I forgot to collect my blood test results again! I'm still hooked on MIKA and looking forward to his concert on 14th June. Hahaha.

Monday, May 31, 2010 Learn to love yourself
Posted by Philothea` @ Monday, May 31, 2010 | I'm back from a good 2 days spent at Suntec Convention Hall for Hope Conference ID2010! :)
During tonight's ANEW praise & worship concert, we were asked to pray with someone from another congregation and I conveniently turned around to this woman from the Filipino group behind me whom I don't know. She affectionately held my hands so tightly that I grew nervous and she was tearing after I prayed for her. Coincidentally, during the ending period when we went forward to be prayed for by the pastoral leaders, she appeared next to the queue beside me. It was a nice surprise to see her again and this time she said something which alarmed me. She commented that I was beautiful and I immediately gave her the glare and responded: NO!
Thinking back, I realised I had been rude and I should have politely accepted her compliments instead. Oops. I'm not good with compliments. Haha. I'm shy and mostly, very skeptical of people's affirmations of me. I can think of the numerous beautiful people around me but I find it hard to accept that adjective on myself. Hohoho. Don't worry, I'm learning to love myself more and getting rid of my 'I-shouldn't-have-been-born-in-this world' or related idea. I admit that I've contemplated suicide on many accounts in the past but never found the courage to plunge to hell. Since the death of a TDS junoir - Melissa Toh, I was kinda awaken/reminded not to attempt anything silly no matter what happens. And there you have it - I'm kicking and alive till this day for more good reasons than ever.
Thank you God and my dear friends who helped me maintain my sanity till this day. I may have grown more reserved over the years but I still have that soft spot to open up my life when I sense your sincerity, non-judgmental and unconditional love for me. And to the many people who wondered why I'm such a mystery - well, I never believed that I should deposit my whole life into any single friend and that every of my important friend knows just enough. You will only be able to see my life's entity when you piece all the jigsaw puzzle together from all the important people in my life. And if you were concerned, you would have asked, wouldn't you? How do you expect me to pour out to you when I don't see the connection? Hehe.
Anyway Chris, thanks for sharing this video below! That man is amazing!
Tuesday, May 25, 2010 25th May
Posted by Philothea` @ Tuesday, May 25, 2010 | I've yet to update about this month's happenings. I shall backtrack bit by bit. Hoho.
Today I was dragged all the way to Bradell for lunch with matt after meeting yuniza to return her kite. I had to hurry before I rushed for tuition. Anyway, I wonder why: while I was in IJtp, I failed to realise the existence of the nearby CHICKEN RICE BALL stall?!
I had my first chicken rice ball a few weeks ago at Carousel at Royal Plaza on Scotts. And this time, it's a cheaper alternative at a heartland kopitiam.

On another random note:
And the final random note: PAGEONE WAREHOUSE SALES IS HERE AGAIN!!!Every time that happens, I would return home with a trolley of books at great bargain.

My little 5-minutes short film made last year with my nostalgic love for my brazil eraser will go public starting this Friday!
On that very same day, we're going to our long awaited fly kite and picnic outing!
Sorry! I only invited admers for the event below cos I think most of my other friends are working/schooling and it's pretty weird to mix company?
thanks roy for the designing the invite last month in the midst of our exams. hoho.

Posted by Philothea` @ Wednesday, May 12, 2010 | Lays just asked me to check my mail when I was about to collapse in bed at 4am after 2 days of shoot for Ben's short film

Thank you dear creatives core. I'm touched even before you appear before my door.

Sunday, May 02, 2010 these things never end
Posted by Philothea` @ Sunday, May 02, 2010 | These days I just cannot stand the sight of myself anymore.
The lumps in my throat are expanding and they're hideous.
But I see no point in any operation since they're not life threatening.
The fats are multiplying and the lines are deepening.
I cannot look myself in the face without a frown.
Maybe that's why you despise me. But who cares anyway?
You will be old and wrinkly someday.
So stop giving me the glare and etching the cracks.
I NEED A REAL VOCATION.
My insomnia and nightmares are killing me.
Stop making me feel guilty for not meeting up or helping out.
When I'm rested and well, I can be a better being/friend. I promise.
Just bear with me for a little longer, won't you?
Sunday, April 04, 2010 Easter Sunday
Posted by Philothea` @ Sunday, April 04, 2010 | I woke up from an evening nap, feeling a little disoriented. Showered and finished the dinner my brother had loving bought for me even though he had to yell at me a few times before I finally snapped out of my deep sleep.
Easter service was good today except for the Timeless documentary subtitles for 2nd service which went abit booboo. I think it's my fault for not being of much help to Aloysius at the eleventh hour :(
Anyway I'm glad mummy, glenn and chris came along today :)
I shall end off this post with awesome twins who never fail to lift me up with their singing:
Timeless
Posted by Philothea` @ Sunday, April 04, 2010 | Today is Easter Sunday :)
This week had been really arduous. I wanna sleep but work has to be completed first. zzz.

Posted by Philothea` @ Monday, March 29, 2010 | 1) Life has made me a bumperly bumper bee
2) I smile at my tuition kids in envy whenever they say something is easy peasy, lemon squeezy
3) My best therapy these days is a game of reversi on my iphone and my current rating is at 1381 and I can't seem to beat 1400
4) I am growing increasingly horizatally challenged but have yet to hit the gym
5) I'm living in denial now while avoiding school and domestic drudgery
6) Sometimes I feel like I'm a flash in a pan
7) I should start saying goodbye to my pretexts of procrastination
8) I wonder when will I fill up this space with a fresh post again?
gute nacht~

Posted by Philothea` @ Saturday, February 13, 2010 | Last night's nightmare is still lingering in my head. It felt so real, so formidable, so vivid that it left me pondering. If only I can prognosticate the future. It's the weekends/holidays but I'm not at ease at all =(

Friday, January 15, 2010
Posted by Philothea` @ Friday, January 15, 2010 | Everytime I see yuniza, I'm reminded to stop breeding mosquitoes here (stagnant waters). Haha.
Anyhow the year is whipping me into year 2 sem II and so far so good cos I managed to add/drop to all my desired time slots except the silly fact that I've dropped a module and all the other interesting modules are full. So I'm only left with 5 this semester. But I guess it may just turn out to be a blessing in disguise. After all, I think I'm gonna have a hard time these few months, so one less module will ease the pain.
I did a rough calculations of my average time spent on a usual week (168 h/week):
school - 16.5 hours
work - 16 hours (tuition), 4 hours (freelance)
travel - 20 hours
church - 10 hours
meals - 21 hours
toilet - 10.5 hours
so I'm left with 70 hours a week to do my other random stuff and sleep!

Posted by Philothea` @ Tuesday, December 22, 2009 | My brother just reminded me that we've to start planning for feb-valentine ess (oops, haven't informed jason but yaoguo gave the green light) and I was thinking maybe we can do something like the following video plus hiphop dance. No concrete ideas yet...need a concept...a message...

A reminder to myself:
Subject selection is done but I need to add/drop:FIL 240 - change from 64081 to 64080
ADM 215 - change from 64047 to 64046/64049
For the unrestricted elective, I really can't decide between the 2 NIE courses and Korean. I can only afford to take up one this semester and it's super unwise to overload so I won't. Let's see how it goes.
Thursday, December 17, 2009 Marche
Posted by Philothea` @ Thursday, December 17, 2009 |
Since the opening of Somerset 313, I've been to Marche twice and each trip makes me more disappointed. The food still looks good but just doesn't taste as nice as the old outlet at Heeren =( Marche used to be my fav eating place in secondary school! I'm craving for durians and carrot cake now. Hoho. So random.
Posted by Philothea` @ Thursday, December 17, 2009 | This is one of the days I wake up feeling totally disoriented.
It's already evening and I still haven't done much except coordinating for the shoot tmr. I have this uneasy, butterflies-in-my-stomach sensation every time I'm caught in a shoot which I'm uncertain of my ability to deliver. I realised I have been too dependent on the experts around me but when it comes to doing it myself, I start to cringe a little. And I think probably cos I'm getting really rusty and technically incompetent. Producing and directing may be a tad bit easier but when it comes to the technical work, I always have this boiling fear stirring within me.
Anyway I found the answer to my laziness and discontentment with many things in my life. It spells S-E-L-F-D-I-S-C-P-L-I-N-E (revelation from Level Up camp) and it's time to quit living in my comfort zone and really do something about it before it breeds any further contempt.
By the way, I chance upon this cute video and it kinda made me guilty for not practicing beyond the 4 basic chords. I only know G, Em, C, D. Lol.
Actually I've been wanting to learn to play the guitar properly. But since the day my brother lost my one & only guitar, I haven't done anything about it. The good news is that a kind soul has decided to buy me a new guitar this Christmas (thanks man!) so I am looking forward to picking up this useful skill again and use it for QT =)
Alright, I'm getting out of here and I shall continue to muse on the 'More than yesterday, less than tomorrow' devotion now. Tata.

Posted by Philothea` @ Sunday, December 13, 2009 | I'm back! I'm improving with my regular updates, aren't you proud of me? It's very very rare so I'm pretty sure it will die down again after this wave of updates. Haha. So, enjoy it while it lasts! Today's post features my trip to Tate Modern and oh how I love the museums! To see the old masters' works up-close really enlightened me...at last all that foundation drawing and western art history learnt over the past year had not gone down the drain. Hoho. And if you thought my 16pounds breakfast was expensive, consider my lunch which amounted up to 30pounds (about S$70)! It was a very expensive but unsatisfying meal =( I'm sleepy now so I shall say no more...
